Meet the Hollywood Team Behind Vance Gate Repair Hollywood
Our crew is the same group that shows up to your driveway in Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, or down by the Dania Beach cutoff. We’ve worked together long enough to finish each other’s sentences and, more usefully, each other’s diagnoses. What ties us together isn’t a handbook - it’s the habit of writing the price before touching a wrench, photographing every adjustment, and standing behind the work for a full year. Adrian Vance set that standard in 2014, and it’s still how we operate every morning.
Our People
Adrian Vance, Owner
Adrian started this company in 2014 after a decade of wiring commercial access-control systems for distribution centers and parking garages across South Florida. He brought the documentation habits from those jobs - wiring diagrams, photographed terminations, signed-off checklists - to residential gates because, as he’ll tell you, “a homeowner deserves the same paper trail as a property manager.” He’s the one who wrote the Haven Standard after too many customers told him about previous jobs where the final bill looked nothing like the phone estimate. Adrian still rides along on complex motor swaps and access-control reprogramming, and he’s been known to stop a job cold if the written price doesn’t match what the customer was told. Off the clock, he keeps a small fishing skiff at Whiskey Creek and claims the snook are “just okay, nothing to brag about,” which means they’re probably enormous.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been with Vance Gate Repair since 2017, and he’s the technician most customers in Hollywood and Hallandale Beach request by name after their first visit. He’s certified on seven of the nine automation brands we service - LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, DoorKing, and Elite - and he’s the one we send when a gate is doing something the manufacturer says it shouldn’t be able to do. Marcus specializes in intermittent electrical faults, the kind where the gate works fine for three days then stops dead at 6 a.m. on a Sunday. His trick is patience: he’ll sit with a multimeter and log voltage drops until the pattern reveals itself. He grew up in Miramar, still lives there with his two kids, and coaches a U-12 soccer team that, by his own dry admission, “loses with enthusiasm.”
Elena R., Senior Installer
Elena joined us in 2019 after six years installing aluminum and wrought-iron fencing for a Broward contractor who didn’t bother with permits. She knew the structural side cold - post depth, hinge load ratings, wind-load calculations for Hollywood’s hurricane code - but wanted to work somewhere that handled the full job, from footing to final programming. She’s our lead on new gate installations and welded repairs, and she’s particularly good at matching existing ironwork when a section needs replacement rather than full rebuild. Elena is the reason we carry a portable MIG rig on every truck; she’s replaced broken scrollwork on century-old estate gates in Hollywood Lakes and fabricated custom hinge brackets for oddball masonry openings. She keeps a notebook of every weld she’s made, with photos, going back five years. On weekends she restores vintage motorcycles, which she says teaches you to work with metal that’s already been stressed once.
Darnell K., Service Coordinator
Darnell answers the phones. That’s the simple version. The fuller picture is that he’s the live voice you get at 11 p.m. when your sliding gate won’t close and you’re trying to secure the property before leaving for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International at 5 a.m. He’s been with Vance since 2020, and before that he dispatching for a commercial HVAC company, so he knows how to triage urgency without manufacturing it. Darnell schedules every appointment, confirms technician ETAs by text, and pre-qualifies parts needs so Marcus or Elena isn’t driving back to the warehouse mid-job. He’s also the one who follows up after every visit to make sure the photo record arrived and the written price made sense. Darnell lives in Hollywood proper, near Young Circle, and he’s usually the first to know when a tropical system’s coming because his mother calls from Lauderdale Lakes with detailed instructions.
Jesse P., Apprentice Technician
Jesse started with us in 2023, straight out of a Broward technical college program in low-voltage electrical systems. He’s still in his apprenticeship hours, which means he’s on every job with either Marcus or Elena, learning the mechanical side - gear ratios, limit-switch geometry, chain tension - that you don’t get in classroom wiring labs. Jesse’s specialty so far is gate operator programming: he’s faster than most of us at navigating the setup menus on LiftMaster and Ghost Controls units, and he’s the one who figured out a firmware quirk on the newer Mighty Mule boards that was causing phantom obstruction errors. He grew up in Pembroke Pines, works part-time at his uncle’s auto shop on weekends, and asks better questions than most technicians with ten years on the job. We’re not allowed to let him near the welding rig yet. He knows why.
One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard isn’t a poster in the break room. It’s three clauses we follow on every single visit, and every person on this team can recite them without looking.
Clause 1 - Have it in writing: The price is written, printed, and handed to the customer before any work starts. No exceptions. If the scope changes, we stop, write the new price, and get a signature. Darnell confirms this happened on every job before he closes the ticket.
Clause 4 - Evidence on every job: Every technician carries a tablet for photo documentation. What we found, what we adjusted, what we replaced, serial numbers of parts installed. The customer gets a copy; we file the original. Marcus started doing this on commercial sites in 2017, and now Jesse does it on his first solo assists.
The 365-Day Done Right Promise: If anything we repaired or installed isn’t right, we make it right. No argument, no fee, no expiration date within that window. Elena handled a callback last March on a welded hinge that settled slightly after the concrete cured - she was back on site the next morning, no charge, new photos in the file.
These aren’t corporate policies from a handbook we bought. They’re habits Adrian built into the company starting in 2014, and they’re how every technician and coordinator on this team knows whether a job was done properly. The customer has the written price and the photo record. We have the same. That’s the standard.
